HEALTHCARE IT EDUCATION MODEL
Beginning in October 2009,
in collaboration with national leaders from government (state / federal), academia,
healthcare industry, and certification organizations,
ITCOE is launching development of a
National Health Information Technology Workforce
Education Model derived from healthcare technology
standards supporting by an education program framework. The model will map
to existing and develop new academic curriculum programs, develop professional
development programs and health IT certifications. Fast track education
programs will be developed to fast-track healthcare workers into healthcare IT

INFORMATION SECURITY
MODEL
In
an every-changing business and technological environment, security controls that are
start-of-the-art today may be obsolete tomorrow, while new security risks and
emerging threats can occur at any time, resulting in potential serious financial
and legal impacts to business operations. Ensuring the security of an
organization's information is not only a technology responsibility; it is a
business governance responsibility.
An increase in defining and
implementing security standards and best practice guidance from the public and
private sector, as well as increased regulatory compliance will continue to
impact information security and workforce development. While security
legislation, regulations and the demand for services, higher levels of
accountability, transparency and compliance are increasing; requirements for
security controls, security awareness, and the critical need for a highly
trained information security workforce are reaching new heights.

To support information security workforce professional development demands and
to advance the national IT security training and certification landscape,
thereby ensuring that the public and private sectors have the most qualified and appropriately trained IT security workforce possible, in collaboration with the
U.S. Department of Homeland Security, National Cyber Security Division, state government and industry-sector
leaders, ITCOE is developing and implementing information security model frameworks based on the
US DHS IT Security Essential Body of Knowledge (EBK):
A Competency and Functional Framework for IT Security Workforce Development.
The following Information Security Model Frameworks initiatives
